Day 2. Cali –December 26 - City Tour + Caleña Salsa Class
Breakfast at the hotel. We begin this experience at Jairo Varela Square, home to the Grupo Niche Monument, a tribute to the legendary band that immortalized Cali’s essence in every song. We continue with a guided walk along the River Boulevard (Bulevar del Río), a vibrant urban space that frames architectural gems such as La Ermita Church and Ortiz Bridge, symbols of the city’s historic heart.
We proceed to La Merced Church—the site where Cali was founded in 1536— before heading into the San Antonio neighborhood, renowned for its colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and scenic viewpoint offering a stunning panoramic view of the city.
Next, we visit the Cat of the River (Gato del Río) and Cat’s Brides Park (Parque de las Novias del Gato), an artistic space celebrating the creativity and joyful spirit of caleños, before arriving at La Palabra Cali, another iconic city landmark. We will make a stop at a local handicraft shop to purchase souvenirs and enjoy a traditional regional snack. We conclude with a one-hour salsa caleña class, where we will learn the basic steps and distinctive techniques that make this rhythm an icon of local identity.
